The custom cabinet business has changed dramatically since Texas Wood Mill Cabinets, Inc. began building cabinets back in 1981. Back then, just about every cabinet was either paint grade or Ash with simple center rail drawer slides and surface mounted hinges. Raised panel doors were just getting started in East Texas and most cabinets were built out of particle board.
Texas Wood Mill Cabinets has access to all the latest techniques and features. Consider this:
What makes a high quality cabinet is how it is put together. Texas Wood Mill Cabinets builds all of its cabinets using the same basic construction techniques. We begin by using high quality hardwood and plywood which are machined on precision tools and high tech CNC machinery. All our face frames are glued and screwed together for tight clean joints. Plywood is cut and drilled using a precision CNC router that ensures every cabinet is square and every shelf is perfectly spaced. All our shelves are recessed into the vertical partition to ensure a strong joint. Vertical partitions are strategically placed to avoid sagging shelves and to separate drawer stacks from the rest of the cabinet.
Texas Wood Mill Cabinets builds custom cabinets using just about any species you desire. From imported hardwood, to exotic veneers and even plastics, our team can custom design and fabricate just about any cabinet to meet your needs.
A note about MDF. MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) is commonly used in paint-grade cabinetry. This is not the 'particle board' of old, MDF is a high grade composite material constructed from recycled wood and resin and is specifically engineered to provide a very smooth and stable surface for paint-grade cabinetry; often-times. As a standard, our company uses MDF for Paint Grade cabinet backs and the center panel of cabinet doors; ie, non-structural items. MDF is also less expensive which generally translates to an overall savings on cabinet costs vs. traditional stained wood cabinetry.
Texas Wood Mill Cabinets builds most of the cabinet doors we use. Doing so enables us to provide quick turn-a-round on additions and repairs and ensures that the doors on you finely crafted cabinets are always of the same high quality. If we don't have the door style you're looking for, we can have them built for you!
Drawers and Pull-Outs add functionality to a cabinet and help to organize your workspace. Texas Wood Mill Cabinets builds all standard drawers out of high-strength 9-ply plywood using a specially designed interlocking joint. Solid Maple drawer sides and Dovetail joints are also available.
Even a quality built cabinet can become a problem if you don't use strong, quality hardware. Our standard hardware includes fully concealed "European" style hinges and side-mounted captive roller drawer slides.
Accessories add convenience to a cabinet. Tired of 'dead' corners? Add a Lazy Susan. 'Want to avoid bending over? Add pull outs. Wood Mill has all kinds of convenience accessories available to maximize the usefulness of your new cabinets. Some accessories we build ourselves and some we purchase from a variety of vendors. If you've seen it, we can build it or get it!
Do you want that 'furniture' look? Then add moldings. Crown and cove molding at the top of your upper cabinets add depth and character. Corner moldings smooth out the edges and set some cabinets off from others. Our design experts will assist you in choosing the right cabinet moldings to complement the look and feel of your home.
Like moldings, different toe kick designs or the addition of pedestal, scrolled, or bun feet on your cabinets can help change the theme of a room, or make a particular cabinet look 'feminine'. Many of our toe kick designs are precision cut on our CNC router to insure the perfect fit on every cabinet. Because of our expertise in computer programming and computer aided design (CAD), if you can describe the look you want, we can usually design and cut it out.
You can further enhance the look of your cabinets by adding various decorations including Fluted Stiles, Raised Panel Ends, Posts, Beaded Backs, Corbels, and Onlays. The possibilities are endless. If you can imagine it, we can build it.
Today you can have custom cabinets built out of many different woods with various door styles and hardware options. Apply special moldings to the corners and tops of your cabinets and your kitchen or bath becomes a masterpiece!
